Exploring Lexical Patterns in Sylvia Plath’s Selected Poems: A Corpus-Based Study

This research is a corpus-based examination of the linguistic traits i.e. Keywords, semantic categories & Literary Devices found in Sylvia Plath’s selected poems i.e. Mushrooms, Morning Show, Mad Girl’s Love Song, Lady Lazarus, and Tulips. For this purpose, AntConc 3.5 Version and USAS Semantic Tagger were used to illustrate the 1^st twenty Key words and semantic categories indicating Numbers, Emotions, Psychological states and Time Period. Throughout the entirety of the research, a particular focus was also placed to investigate the manner and stylistic choices used by Plath in her above-mentioned poems by indicating alliteration, simile, and personification. This discovery was made possible by the fact that the corpus-driven technique and USAS Semantic Tagger can produce a significant number of findings. As a result, these language patterns have the potential to give new textual data that can be used to analyze Slyvia Plath’s writing style.
